KYC for DTH STB

Trai has released its recommendations on the “KYC for the DTH set top boxes”. In its recommendations Trai said, DTH operator should only install the set-top box on the address which is mentioned in the customer application form (CAF) and record of such installations should be maintained by them.

In the recommendations, it has further added, every DTH operator should identity the customer by sending One Time Password (OTP) to his registered mobile number. In case, a subscriber mobile number is not provided by the consumer then a Proof of Identity or any other similar document which can establish the identity of the user, either in physical or electronic form, must be obtained before provisioning of DTH connection.
