E-waste informal operations

An Indian voluntary body, Toxics Link in its report claimed that in 15 informal hotspots of Delhi, crude processing of e-waste is functioning without any health or environmental safeguards. In the report titled “Informal E-waste Recycling in Delhi: Unfolding impact of two years of e-waste (Management) Rules 2016”, Toxics Link reveals that the informal operations continue to poison human health and the environment through its improper processing operations.

India enforced its first e-waste management rules in 2012 and later amended it in 2016 to check the growing stream of toxic waste in the country, which currently generates more than 2 million tonnes of toxic waste annually.
