NCAER Working Paper

National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) has come out with a working paper on the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). The paper said India should take a cautious and gradual approach towards launching digital currency.

In her budget speech on February 1, 2022, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had proposed to introduce Digital Rupee, using blockchain and other technologies, to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) starting in 2022-23.
