IAMAI report on Mobile Handsets

Make in India program is the flagship program of the government with a special focus on developing mobile manufacturing ecosystem in the country. Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in its recent report “Make in India 2.0: Revisiting Mobile Manufacturing” said that there is need to assess the phased manufacturing plan (PMP) as it could not leverage global leader firms to relocate their manufacturing base in India. Also, India local brands such as Micromax, Intex, Lava and Karbonn have lost their domestic market share and struggling to sustain operations despite the introduction of PMP.
