Sim porting goes awry, Airtel told to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to Karnataka filmmaker
BENGALURU: A filmmaker, who had to remain without a mobile phone connection for days on end as his attempt to port his sim card to Airtel failed thrice, approached a consumer court, which ordered the phone major to pay him a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh.
With three sim cards issued to the man remaining defunct, the court pulled up Airtel for service deficiency and ordered it to pay him another Rs 5,000 towards his litigation expenses.
On the afternoon of January 22, 2018, Vijayanagar resident and filmmaker Simha received a call on his mobile phone from an Airtel executive selling him a sim with an attractive offer.
