Cyber fraudster from Telangana creates fake profile of CCMB scientist, hands out offer letters

HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police arrested a cyber fraudster for duping people in the guise of providing jobs at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB). The accused has been identified as A Praveen Kumar, 37, from Kistareddypet in Sangareddy district. He was arrested from his house on Tuesday.

The police said they received a complaint from a CCMB representative stating that an unknown person created a mail ID director.ccmb.res.in@gmail.com, to dupe gullible job aspirants by posing as CCMB director. During the investigation, cyber crime inspector J Narender Goud collected evidence from network service providers and zeroed in on the offender. After his arrest, cops seized two phones from him. He later confessed that after completion of BSc in biotechnology, he worked as a chemist in Vijayawada and later worked as a radiographer in Hyderabad till 2021.
