Samsung shuts down Noida manufacturing unit amidst coronavirus lockdown

NEW DELHI: Samsung India has halted the production at its Noida factory after the government announced a lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVD-19). The Noida manufacturing plant is Samsung’s biggest smartphone plant.
“At Samsung, health and safety of employees is our highest priority. As a measure to safeguard our employees and their families against Covid-19 and in compliance with directives from the Government, we have decided to currently suspend our manufacturing operations and have asked employees at our sales, marketing and R&D offices across India to work from home,” said Partha Ghosh, Head, corporate Communications, Samsung India.
Samsung has implemented work from home for other employees across India since last week. Located in Noida sector 81, this Samsung factory has a workforce of around 70,000 employees.
