Noida: Mobile companies reboot assembly line, but where are workers?

NOIDA: India’s largest mobile manufacturing cluster hit a slow restart last week. Noida is where 60% of the country’s cellphone units are made. But getting back the assembly line back on track might take a while.

“The problem is getting workers. Companies are slowly resuming operations but production has not taken off. Getting back to full-scale manufacturing will be difficult now. Companies will also have to start looking at new ways to get their products to customers,” said YK Gupta, a senior consultant with mobile manufacturing companies in Noida.
