On January 10, 2015 the government of India approved the implementation of the optical fiber project connecting the North Eastern states with the rest of India by laying about 4 km of optical fiber in the Indian territory and 35 km in Bangladesh side, besides using about 400 km existing fiber owned by Bangladesh telecom company. The project has been implemented and the tariff has started flowing through the network.
