MIB cancels Hindustan Broadcasting Company’s news licence

The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has cancelled one news uplinking licence in January 2020. The total number of cancelled licences has jumped to 288, as on date.

Hindustan Broadcasting Company’s news uplinking licence under the name HBC News has been cancelled since the company doesn’t require the licence anymore. The licence was given to the company in February 2009.

Incidentally, the company’s name has been struck off from the register of companies. Hindustan Broadcasting Company was incorporated on 31 January 1996. It is classified as a non-govt company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Jaipur. Its authorised share capital and paid-up capital was Rs. 3.4 crore.

As per information available on online company database Zauba, Hindustan Broadcasting Company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) was last held on 30th September 2011 and as per records from Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), its balance sheet was last filed on 31 March 2011.

Directors of Hindustan Broadcasting Company are Virendra Choudhary, Sharda Devi Choudhary, Satish Chandra Katta and Suman Katta.

As reported earlier, the ministry had revoked the licences of The Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Pvt Ltd and ZEEL. The cancelled licences include Mathrubhumi News North and Mathrubhumi News South. ZEEL’s non-news uplinking-only licence Zee ME was also cancelled.
