Government now banned 47 more Chinese apps

After banning 59 Chinese apps in June, Government of India has now banned 47 more Chinese apps. According to sources, these apps were acting as the clones of the previously banned 59 Chinese app.

MeitY will soon be releasing the list of the apps that are banned.

Earlier on June 29, Government issues an order to ban 59 apps with Chinese links, citing that these apps are a threat to the sovereignty, integrity, defense and security of India.

According to a ET report, India has drawn up a list of 275 apps that it will examine for any violation of national security and user privacy, signalling heightened scrutiny and the possibility of more Chinese internet companies being banned in the country.

According to the report, Tencent-backed PubG, Alibaba-owned Ali Express, phone maker Xiaomi, music streaming app Reso, owned by ByteDance among others are a part of the list of apps that could be banned by the government.
