DoT’s Peeyush Agrawal dies of cardiac arrest

Telecom Commission member (technology) Peeyush Agrawal has died of a heart attack while he was on a personal trip to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh last Friday.

Telecom Commission is the government’s highest-decision making body in the telecom sector.

Agrawal was appointed to the position in August 2015 and prior to his current role, he was working as a technology advisor to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

“He was died of cardiac arrest on Friday evening while he was on a personal trip to Mathura,” his office informed ET over phone.

Agrawal was cremated at the Dayanand Muktidham Cremation Ground at Lodhi Road in New Delhi on Saturday.

A 1977-batch Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officer, he previously served state-run Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) as executive director.

Agrawal had also served as the chief operating officer of a subsidiary of MTNL, Millennium Telecom.
