Here’s how Twitter is tackling fake information related to coronavirus on its platform
While the country is grappling with efforts to envelope the outbreak of novel coronavirus, fake information and rumours about the virus have been doing rounds across the internet. To fight the issue of false information, microblogging site Twitter has announced various measures on its platform.
Twitter has created a Covid-19 search prompt on its platform. This means that when a user searches for related Covid-19 conversation, the search prompt offers content from credible sources such as national health agencies and the World Health Organisation. The feature, as per the company, is being monitored actively to ensure that the related keywords including misspellings generate results from reliable sources only.
Further, the social media platform is working closely with government agencies. It has also published a list of key police accounts that can be used to access local information and latest updates from the credible sources.
