Airtel launches Wynk Tube to tap smartphone users in non-metros
Bharti Airtel on Tuesday expanded its content service portfolio by launching a new music streaming app, Wynk Tube, with an aim to tap smartphone users in tier 2, tier 3 and villages.
Sameer Batra, CEO- content & apps at Bharti Airtel said that the new app has been built for India 2.0, keeping in mind the digital entertainment needs of hundreds if millions smartphone usees in non-metros and small towns.
“…we believe Wynk Tube will accelerate our journey to the next 100 million users,” he said.
Batra added that regional content and personalisation through Artificial Intelligence and big data will continue to be a big agenda for Airtel.
Wynk Tube allows busers to stream audio and video of music track within the same interface. The app is currently available for Android smartphones.
The new audio-video service will be available for free for Airtel useea with unlimited streaming and downloads, while non-Airtel can avail one-month free trial and can buy the subscription.
