66% of smartphones launched in 3Q22 support 5G, MediaTek gains edge over Qualcomm: Techarc

NEW DELHI: 31 smartphones, or 66% of the 47 smartphone models launched in Q3 2022 support 5G technology, according to a report released by Techarc on Friday.

In terms of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) preference for the chipsets, MediaTek enjoyed an edge with 23 (49%) of the smartphones launched during the period using its chipsets. Compared to this, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon was used in 15 (32%) of the launches. Apple and UniSOC had a tie with 4 launches each. Google used its own processor for the latest Pixel model, as per the report.
