Rs 3,050 cr penalty on Airtel & Voda Idea

In a meeting of the Digital Communications Commission held on June 17, 2019, it has been decided to refer the matter back to Trai for review on the quantum of penalty. All the members of DCC attended the meeting except Member (Finance).

The issue has been hanging fire since October 2016 when Trai had suggested an imposition of a total penalty of Rs 3,050 crore on Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea for denying interconnectivity to Reliance Jio. They did not provide enough points of interconnection
