ZEE acquires global media rights for Emirates Cricket Board’s UAE T20 league for 10 years
Zee Entertainment Enterprises NSE 1.52 % (ZEE) has marked its return into sports broadcasting by signing a 10-year media rights deal with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for their upcoming UAE T20 League.
The deal, pegged at around $100-120 million, was signed just after ZEE completed its non-compete for sports with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN).
“ZEE has acquired the rights of the league for 10 years,” confirmed a highly placed source. “They have committed a telecast on at least 3-4 TV channels and OTT service ZEE5. Once their merger finalises with Sony, UAE T20 matches will also be aired on sports channels of the merged entity.”
