YouTube will no longer allow desktop users to pick how it appears
Google’s video streaming platform YouTube is set to kill its classic desktop interface starting next month, a Google employee has posted on Google support pages. This means that users will no longer have the choice to select the classic desktop interface or the material design theme that was introduced in August 2017.
To recall, YouTube introduced a new material design with features like Dark Theme and up until now has given its users a choice between the new and the old layout, however YouTube does not want to give that any longer as it feels that the old older version misses out on new features.
“Enter 2020 and the older versions are missing many of the new features and design improvements we’ve introduced over the past 3 years, including top requests based on your feedback. That’s why the older version will be going away in March and you’ll only be able to access newer desktop versions to enjoy the best of YouTube,” reads the post on Google support page.
