YouTube video recommendation algorithm has a major ‘flaw’ reveals former developer

YouTube, one of the most viewed video-sharing platforms owned by Google keeps a lot of us engaged in all kinds of videos. These can be short videos on tech, funny videos, cat videos and more. YouTube also has a feature called ‘Recommendations’ that is dynamic and changes according to what we watch. The recommended videos play automatically once the current video ends, most of the times. Although it keeps us glued to the website for hours, one of the former developers says the particular feature has a major ‘flaw’ that is doing harm to viewers than good.
As mentioned by Guillaume Chaslot, founder of AlgoTransparency and a former developer that helped YouTube with the recommendation algorithm, the particular feature is designed to make us addicted and not show us what we really want.
