YouTube video ‘presenter’ dupes Mumbai doctor planning to start vegan food business

A 26-year-old doctor in Mumbai who was looking for guidance on a YouTube channel on how to get an agency and licence as a distributor of vegan food business was duped of Rs 7.90 lakh by a fraudster who posed as the video presenter, the police said.

According to the police, the doctor, a resident of Mulund (West) and practises at her father’s clinic, wanted to do a parallel business and was looking for ideas on how to get a licence and agency for a distributor of vegan food.

Last month, she contacted a mobile number given in the comments section of a YouTube video presented by one Mayank Tiwari on the subject ‘How to find a distributor for a food business’, the police said.
