Yahoo launches fantasy cricket game

Verizon Media’s Yahoo Cricket on Monday launched its Daily Fantasy Cricket Game in which users can customise their teams based on the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) daily T20 matches.

Game winners will receive e-vouchers worth ₹7,500 on each game day. The overall Yahoo Cricket Daily Fantasy winner stands to win a tournament prize of e-vouchers worth ₹1,00,000, subject to terms and conditions, the company said in a statement.

In the fantasy game, players are awarded points based on the actual player’s performance during a real match. Yahoo cited industry reports claiming that the fantasy sports market in India is expected to grow to 100 million users by 2020. Other fantasy cricket games currently active in the IPL include Dream 11.
