Worldwide IT spending to grow in 2021: Gartner

Global IT spending is expected to hit 3.8 trillion next year, according to the latest report by research firm Gartner. As per the report, IT spending is likely to go up by 4% in 2021, vis-a-vis 2020. It is expected to touch $3.6 trillion this year, down 5.4% from the previous year (2019).
Among various segments, enterprise software is expected to make strongest rebound (7.2%) “due to the acceleration of digitalisation efforts by enterprises supporting a remote workforce, delivering virtual services such as distance learning or telehealth, and leveraging hyper automation to ensure pandemic-driven demands are met,” says the report.
The data center system segment is likely to see second-fastest growth, of 5.2% in the year 2021. “As hyperscalers accelerate global data center build out and regular organizations resume data center expansion plans and allow staff to be physically back onsite,” reasons the report.
