With over 55 million monthly active users, Google Pay is focusing on making UPI safer
NEW DELHI: The launch of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in India has made real-time account-to-account transactions appear as easy as exchanging cash. Considering this convenience in payments, almost all payments apps — like PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay and others — offer UPI service. While it is much needed and helpful, it is the lack of awareness among users that is making UPI earn a bad name.
“We along with the support of the media need to go all out and educate citizens on UPI, especially the “Request money” feature,” said Ambarish Kenghe, director, product management, Google Pay, India in an interaction with The Times of India Tech-GadgetsNow.
“Google Pay has over 55 monthly active users in India alone as of May 2019. With the increasing user base, we are now looking at making our interface for simpler,so that users easily understand the flow of money– whether they are receiving or paying ,” said Kenghe.
