Why you need to think twice before clicking on that HTML attachment in your mailbox

Internet users beware of those HTML links. According to new research from Barracuda, 21% of all HTML attachments come with malicious links. These malware-laden HTML attachments are used for stealing users credentials and personal information.
The research claims that as compared to other types of attachments, HTML files are used for malicious practices. The stats showed that 21% of the HTML attachments were used for malicious purposes.
According to Parag Khurana, Country Manager, Barracuda Networks India, “These attacks are difficult to detect because HTML attachments themselves are not malicious. Attackers do not include malware in the attachment but instead use multiple redirects with Javascript libraries hosted elsewhere.”
