Why this useful sounding WhatsApp feature maybe completely useless

NEW DELHI: Instant messaging app WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will disable its users from saving their contacts’ profile pictures to media library. In a tweet, WABetaInfo — the online portal that tracks the new and upcoming features on WhatsApp — said that this functionality has been disabled for WhatsApp Android beta version 2.19.319 as well as WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 2.19.60.5.
Before this rollout, WhatsApp showed a ‘share’ icon when viewing a contact’s profile picture. Tapping on this icon gives the WhatsApp user to save the profile photo to the smartphone’s gallery or share it via social media channels. But post this update, the app has removed the icon completely. This is also the case for Group icons as well.
However, this new feature is quite futile as the option to click a screenshot of the contact’s profile picture still remains. That way, users can still save it to their smartphones and further share it with people.
