Why the FBI is once again ‘unhappy’ with Apple

US law enforcement authorities and Apple haven’t had the best of relationships. And now the FBI has once again lashed out at Apple for not being helpful. The Cupertino-based tech giant known for being stickler for privacy and it hasn’t gone down too well with the likes of FBI on certain occasions. One such occasion has been the case of the Pensacola shooting incident in Florida that took place in December 2019.
Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani attacked the Pensacola Naval Air Station and killed three sailors and injured 8. While he too was killed during the attack, the FBI has now traced its links back to Al-Qaeda. The killer had an iPhone, which FBI had asked Apple to unlock the device but the company handed over the data it had without actually unlocking it.
In a press conference held yesterday, US Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray. criticised Apple. “We received, effectively, no help from Apple,” Wray said, as per a CNBC report.
