Why Huawei CEO considers Apple his ‘role model’
The Cupertino giant Apple has an ‘unlikely fan’. Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei considers the company his ‘role model’ on user privacy. Answering a question if the user’s data will be shared with the Chinese government, Huawei CEO said that the company ‘will never do such a thing’. In fact, when it comes to privacy protection of the users, Apple is his inspiration. Zhengfei said this during an interview with the Financial Times.
To recall, Apple in 2016 defied a court order to unlock a customer’s iPhone upholding users’ privacy. Again in 2018, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company will never make its customers the product.
Emphasizing that the data is owned by customers and not Huawei, the company founder said, “Data is owned by our customers, not us. Carriers have to track every user, otherwise no phone calls could be made.
