Why Google, LG, Nokia may be saying ‘no’ to Android’s fastest processor
In 2019, almost all handset manufacturers offered at least one smartphone that came powered by Qualcomm’s flagship processors, Snapdragon 855 or Snapdragon 855+. However, it appears that this could change this year.
Two different — and recent — reports have suggested that Google and LG could skip the flagship processor for their respective series that till now have been powered by Snapdragon 800 series.
A recent report by 9to5Google the Pixel 5 was spotted with the code name “Bramble” alongside another codename “Redfin.” These codenames were first discovered in January 2020 by XDA-Developers, who had revealed that the Redfin and Bramble were spotted with sm7250 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC that comes with integrated 5G modem. A report by Korean website Naver suggests the same for LG for its upcoming LG G9 ThinQ, which is also rumoured to come powered by Snapdragon 765G.
