Why Google has no plans of going back to China
Last year there was quite a furore when rumours about tech giant Google launching its services in China. There were reports that employees were unhappy about these alleged plans of entering China. However, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has now clarified that the company has no plans of relaunching in China. In an interview given to CNN, Pichai said that Google is not working on a Chinese search engine. He said in the interview, “There are no plans for us to consider relaunching our service in China.”
He further said that if Google had to relaunch its services in China, it would need “the right conditions.” One of the most “important condition” would be censorship-free internet. However, he refused to give further details and said, “I don’t want to speculate on a hypothetical situation. We have no plans. And, you know, we are not spending time on it,” Pichai told CNN.
