WhatsApp working on new self-destructing text messages feature: Report

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature to its users in the beta version of the application. The instant messaging application is testing a new ‘self-destructing’ messages feature. As the name suggests, messages can be timed to self-destruct within a stipulated time period. Similar to the Stories feature on the application, that lets users post pictures and videos for a limited period of time, this new feature will limit the timing on text and is expected to be restricted to private and group chats. The feature is still disabled but it may soon get operational in the future builds.

According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks the latest WhatsApp features and changes, the feature was seen in Android versions 2.20.83 and 2.20.84. The option to self-destruct was found in the private chats.
