WhatsApp is getting disappearing messages feature: This is how it may look
Instant messaging app WhatsApp has been known to be working on a disappearing messages feature on a disappearing messages feature since a while now. Traces related to this feature have been spotted in multiple beta versions of WhatsApp and the latest one seems to give a closer look at it.
As per the latest post by WABetaInfo, the beta version 2.20.197.4 of WhatsApp’s Android app, the feature could be rolled out as ‘Expiring Messages.’ Users will be required to turn it on manually as per the screenshot provided by the online platform that tracks the upcoming changes and features on the Facebook-owned instant messaging platform.
The screenshot also shows that enabling this setting will lead to disappearing of messages after 7 days. “Turn on this to make new messages disappear from this chat after 7 days,” reads the screenshot. From this it can be inferred that the setting will not be applicable to the previously exchanged messages on WhatsApp. Also it appears that users will get the option to select it individually for each chat rather than a common setting for all chats on the app.
