What you must know about the ‘warning post’ on Facebook, Instagram making your photos public
A new hoax message that warns Facebook and Instagram users about a ‘new photo rule’ is doing the rounds. The message starts by saying, “Don’t forget tomorrow starts the new Facebook rule where they can use your photos. Don’t forget Deadline today…” The long message basically tells users to post a self declaration that will supposedly not allow Facebook and its group platforms from using their photos publicly.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that such a message is being circulated on social media. A similar hoax message was first circulated in 2012 as well. Interestingly, several prominent influencers on Instagram too have fallen for this message and circulating the same. On Instagram, a similar message was shared, however, instead of Facebook, the warning was meant for Instagram. Celebrities around the world inlcuding Kalki Koechlin, P!NK and former Texas Governor Rick Perry fell for this old hoax.
