What is WhatsApp’s Disappearing Message Feature?

The Facebook-owned company, WhatsApp has come up with a new feature to its platform that lets users send messages that will disappear after a time period of seven days. As per the company, these messages can be sent to groups and individual chats.
WhatsApp has made clear that the messages that were sent or received prior to enabling the setting will not be affected. Moreover, the disappearing message feature needs to be enabled by users in individual chats while in group chats only the admins can turn it on or off.
