Vodafone UK selects Ericsson single antenna tech to expedite 5G rollout

NEW DELHI: Ericsson and mobile and broadband operator Vodafone have commenced the deployment of the Swedish telecom gear maker’s single antenna technology in the UK to expedite 5G rollout.

The companies are deploying Ericsson’s Interleaved AIR 3218 antenna-integrated radio and multiband passive antenna technology in a single enclosure, as per a statement by the gear maker. The AIR 3218 is expected to be deployed across 50 sites within Vodafone’s 5G network in the UK in 2023, with an estimated 30% saving in site acquisition and build time.
