Vodafone Idea’s postpaid tariff signals broader tariff hike: Report

NEW DELHI: Vodafone India Ltd’s (VIL) post-paid tariff hike in the UP East circle for just two plans looks more like a signaling mechanism for a broader tariff hike, Credit Suisse said in a report. It added that this hike is sustainable if Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio follows suit.

With the current hikes, cash-strapped VIL has inched closer to Reliance Jio in the Rs 799 price range and is at a premium of 8% in the Rs 649 tariff range. However, Vi will be able to sustain the tariff hike if Reliance Jio follows suit, it said.
