The prospects of the government taking over 70% ownership of Vodafone Idea by converting principal statutory dues into equity could limit the cash-strapped telco’s ability to attract much-needed equity funding from third-party investors, analysts said, posing fresh questions on its survival.
Vodafone Idea (Vi) faces more than ₹40,000 crore annual regulatory payouts once its four-year payment moratorium ends in the third quarter of 2025-26.
