Vodafone Idea survival depends on whether promoters can invest more: SS Sirohi

The Supreme Court bench has said that there is no going back on DoT dues and reserved order on staggered payment timeline. Are these developments largely in line with what the Street was estimating?

The Street was quite soft on it, but the Supreme Court is following the same line of its earlier order that there is no negotiation on the amounts filed by DoT, which is around Rs 92,000 crore. So, the question now remains is how the telecom operators will pay what is left to be paid. Vodafone has said that all its revenues have been wiped out in operations and in taxes. It has nothing left to pay AGRs, etc. Its financial condition is so pathetic that the Supreme Court has asked how it intends to pay the AGR dues in whichever manner.
