Vodafone Idea revenue market share plunges in Q1; Jio, Airtel make strong gains

Kolkata: Vodafone Idea has continued to rapidly lose ground to stronger rivals — Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel — with its revenue market share (RMS) plunging 448 basis points (bps) to 23.3% in the June quarter, financial data collated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) showed.

The sharp fall in VIL’s RMS has been triggered by heavy market-share declines in urban circles, exacerbated further by its critical 2G business revenues also taking a hit amid the Covid crisis, sector experts said, analysing Trai data.
