Vodafone Idea lost 3.7 mn subscribers in July; Jio crossed 400 mn subscribers: Trai

India’s telecom industry gained 3.5 million gross subscribers during July to take the overall base to 1144 million due to reopening of the economy and resumption of offline channels.

India had lost 3.2 million subscribers in June.

Reliance Jio became the first mobile phone operator to cross 400 million subscribers in India, having added an industry leading 3.55 million users in the month of July. But its inactive use base continued to be higher than its rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, according to latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).
