Vodafone Idea CTO wants India to learn from China, Japan’s 5G spectrum policy

NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea Limited’s chief technology officer Vishant Vora said that the Indian government needs to see the 5G strategy of China and Japan where governments have allocated the spectrum through an administrative route to allow telcos to invest in high-speed networks.

“…look at what Chinese and Japanese have done. They recognise that 5G is the foundational piece of economy. Instead of charging for spectrum, they are helping telcos build the network. It is worthwhile to think about,” Vishant Vora, chief technology officer at Vodafone Idea said.
