VLC Media Player doesn’t have any ‘vulnerabilities’, claims company

Update: VideoLAN, the company behind VLC, has issued a clarification on Twitter regarding the below-mentioned vulnerability. The company has claimed that the report by WinFuture was based on an older version of the media player. Since then the player has been updated and there are no vulnerabilities which were fixed almost 16 months back. Here’s what the company said on Twitter, “About the “security issue” on #VLC : VLC is not vulnerable. tl;dr: the issue is in a 3rd party library, called libebml, which was fixed more than 16 months ago. VLC since version 3.0.3 has the correct version shipped”
If you use a laptop or desktop then chances are that you have VLC player installed on your system and use it very often to consume multimedia content. A new report now highlights that the multimedia player has a serious security flaw that has recently been discovered.
