Vivo’s market share doubles in January-March quater
NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Vivo doubled its market share in the January-March quarter, while growth at market leader Xiaomi and second-ranked Samsung slowed as competition intensified in India, the world’s second-largest market, two research agencies said.
Vivo’s share jumped to 12% from 6% a year ago, Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Technology Market Research data showed. Singapore-based Canalys pegged its level at 15% from 7.3% in the first quarter of 2018.
Counterpoint put China’s Xiaomi’s share at 29% compared with 31% earlier and South Korea’s Samsung at 23% compared with 26%. However, Canalys showed Xiaomi’s share increasing to 31.4% from 30.6% and pegged Samsung at 24.4% compared with 25.3%.
