Vedanta to re-apply for setting up display fab under new scheme

AHMEDABAD: Oil to metals conglomerate, Vedanta Group, is now proceeding with filing a fresh application under the Modified Display-Scheme, the company said in its regulatory filing. The decision was made after its application under the old scheme for setting up display fabs in India was not approved by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). The announcement came weeks after the withdrawal of Taiwanese chipmaker, Foxconn, from its joint venture partnership with Vedanta Group to set up a semiconductor fab and display fab unit in Gujarat.
