US users face over 2 billion spam calls each month, claims Truecaller

Swedish caller identification platform Truecaller has published its first-ever monthly US Spam and Scam Report. This report offers a detailed analysis of fraudulent call trends in the country and has been compiled from November 2022 to October 2023. To offer real-time data and insights on its website, the company is planning to update the report every month. As per the report, US residents have to struggle with an average of 2.1 billion spam calls on a monthly basis. This means every person gets nearly six spam calls every month and each of them lasts for over four minutes, the report adds.

How do these calls affect users
In 2023, users wasted nearly 195 million hours answering these pesky calls which were at their peak during the holiday season, the report notes. They ranged from charity donations to fraudulent delivery notifications as well as vacation upgrades.
