US Commerce Department wants India to exclude Huawei gear in 5G rollouts

NEW DELHI: The United States has written to the Indian government in the first half of June against purchasing the fifth-generation or 5G telecom gear, following network security concerns from the controversial Chinese gear maker Huawei.

“The United States Department of Commerce in a letter to India’s Department of Commerce in early June has advised it to look into security-related issues in the wake of 5G network deployment,” a person familiar with the matter told ETT.
