UPI transactions hit all-time high in June as second wave ebbed
Mumbai: Monthly UPI transactions scaled an all-time high in June as India emerged from a devastating second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The previous highest was recorded in March this year, following which transactions fell in April and May—the peak months of the second wave.
As many as 2.8 billion transactions worth Rs 5,47,373 crore were clocked on the unified payments interface (UPI) channel in June, data released by nodal authority National Payments Corporation of India showed on Thursday. That’s a 10.6% jump in volume and 11.56% in value compared to May, when 2.53 billion UPI transactions worth Rs 4,90,638 crore were made.
