Twitter takes down accounts affiliated with US-designated terrorist groups

Washington: Twitter has taken down several accounts affiliated with US-designated terrorist groups, Hamas and Hezbollah after lawmakers accused the platform of flouting the country’s law.
The social networking site removed several English-language and Arabic accounts associated with Hamas and Hezbollah’s news and political arms after vowing to “review” accounts highlighted by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), Tom Reed (R-N.Y.), Max Rose (D-N.Y.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) last month, The Hill reported.
The Hamas administration was elected to serve as the governing body of the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has been a legitimate part of the government in Lebanon since 2005′. Both have designated as terrorist organisations by the US.
