Twitter restores Kisan Ekta Morcha and The Caravan accounts, among others after day-long suspension

Twitter Inc. suspended on Monday around 200 accounts of users in response to legal demands by the government according to people privy to the development, but several of them—including that of Kisan Exta Morcha and The Caravan magazine—was restored by the end of the day.

Twitter accounts of activists Md Asif Khan and Hansraj Meena, CPI(M) leader Mohammed Salim and AAP member Preeti Sharma Menon were also restored.

Twitter had blocked these accounts in the interim in response to a valid legal request from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, according to sources cited above. The Meity order continues and it has not withdrawn the order, an official said.
