Twitter brings Tip Jar to India with Razorpay

Bengaluru | Mumbai: Twitter, in association with homegrown fintech startup Razorpay, has introduced its ‘Tip Jar’ in-app payments feature in India, at a time when the government has increased scrutiny of social media platforms with its new intermediary guidelines.

The feature can be used to make payments to non-governmental organisations, freelancers, influencers, content creators, journalists, new media professionals, volunteers and activists trying to mobilise funds. Twitter will not take a cut from these payments.

The feature was unveiled in the US more than a month ago. ET first reported about Tip Jar’s India launch on May 26 and that Twitter was beta-testing the feature with Razorpay.
