Twist in Roaming Charges

On February 27, 2015, Trai issued a Draft Telecommunication Tariff (60th Amendment) Order, 2015 through which it had proposed to reduce the ceiling tariffs for voice calls and SMS while on national roaming. The stakeholders were asked to submit their comments on the same by March 13, 2015.

In response, some operators submitted that in case the ceiling tariffs as proposed are implemented, the home tariffs would become higher than the roaming tariffs, which would result in market distortions.
